Sharing Christ, Serving the City

Tamboerskloof Community Church is a new, Christ-centred church plant for the people of Tamboerskloof and surrounds.

For the past fifty years, the Evangelische Stadtmission am Kap (Evangelical City Mission: Cape Town) has met here in Tamboerskloof as a church for the German community in Cape Town and surrounding areas. While thankful to God for this heritage and trusting in him for the future of our German work, we felt called to reach out to the non-German-speaking community around us.

Our first step was to partner with REACH-SA who loaned us Matthew Courtney, an English-speaking minister, from 2022-2024 to begin this project. Since he joined us in 2022, we have begun a number of English-language ministries out of our German congregation (under the title: “Tamboerskloof Community Church”) and have integrated a regular English-language service into our monthly schedule.

Over time, with God’s help, we aim to develop these ministries further and to establish a weekly English service in addition to our German services. Evangelism

Our first step is to go out and meet our neighbours, sharing the gospel through genuine personal relationships.

Discipleship

Our next step will be to begin small groups where we can spend time building a faithful community around God’s Word.

Growth

When we are ready, we hope to offer a weekly English service, continuing to grow community around God’s Word through evangelism and discipleship.
